Platoon is a 1986 war film written and directed by Oliver Stone that follows a young, naive recruit, Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen), during his first tour in Vietnam. The film is a semi-autobiographical account of Stone's own experiences and focuses on the loss of innocence and the moral conflict among soldiers, particularly between two sergeants with opposing viewpoints: the noble Sergeant Elias (Willem Dafoe) and the ruthless Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger). As Taylor endures the brutality of combat, he becomes caught in the middle of their ideological clash, struggling for survival both physically and ethically.
