The Black Walnut tree this wood was harvested from stood close watch over a twisty resort road in Northern Lower Michigan. Twisty roads in the winter are not a safe place to reside for wise old Black Walnut trees, so eventually, the powers that be made the decision to remove it. We salvaged every bit that we were able so that this scar laden tree would not be wasted.
