The Last Wish is the first short story collection in Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher series, published in 1993, featuring monster hunter Geralt of Rivia and introducing key characters like Yennefer and Dandelion. It uses a frame story of Geralt recovering from an injury to intersperse flashbacks, which often retell and twist classic fairy tales with dark, adult themes, exploring moral ambiguity and the idea that "not all monsters look like monsters".
