This particular specimen is rare in this locality, as its large, bulky crystal is an anomaly; they are usually flattened into a disk shape. Azurite suns are unique, flat, disk-shaped mineral specimens characterized by their striking deep blue color and radiating patterns. They are found exclusively at the Malbunka Copper Mine in Australia and form from copper-rich fluids interacting with kaolinite clay over millions of years.
