— - () Letterpress • Pencil Signed • Obey Giant An Artist Proof of Shepard Fairey's AK-47 Lotus letterpress — a red lotus blooming from the barrel of an AK-47. Pencil signed and dated '21 lower right, annotated AP lower left, with the embossed OBEY publishing chop. The AP designation sits outside the numbered edition of 450, making this scarcer than the standard release. • Artist: Shepard Fairey (Obey Giant) • Title: AK-47 Lotus • Year: 2021 • Medium: Letterpress on cream cotton paper, hand-deckled edges • Size: 10 x 13 inches • Edition: Artist Proof (AP) — aside from the numbered edition of 450 • Markings: Pencil signed dated '21, AP notation, embossed OBEY chop • Condition: Excellent — see photos Released June 2021 as a companion to AR-15 Lily, this image draws on Vietnam War-era protesters placing flowers in the gun barrels of National Guardsmen. Fairey described the pair as a pacifist statement, with a portion of original proceeds donated to Brady United, a gun violence prevention organization. The letterpress process gives the ink a tactile, debossed quality no offset print can match. Shepard Fairey is one of the most influential street artists of his generation — creator of the OBEY campaign and the 2008 Obama HOPE poster, with work in the collections of MoMA and the Smithsonian. • AK-47 Lotus AP letterpress print, pencil signed dated • Careful flat-pack or rigid tube packaging, fully insured Ships via UPS with tracking, professionally packed between acid-free materials and rigid boards. . — Authenticated Street Art Collectibles, San Francisco.
