Small brass candlesticks of this design became exceptionally popular during the mid-20th century as decorative mantel and table accents. The incorporation of semi-precious stone or marble beads into metalware reflects a long tradition of mixed-media decorative arts that gained renewed traction in international design markets. Manufacturers in Europe and North America produced these decorative accessories in large numbers to satisfy the post-war demand for affordable home decor.
