This is an original 1920 edition of "The Maine Book" by Henry E. Dunnack, Librarian of the Maine State Library. The book provides a comprehensive historical and literary overview of Maine, covering its early history, notable figures like William King (First Governor of Maine), geography, Indian affairs, and social and industrial history. It features a frontispiece portrait of William King from a painting by Gilbert Stuart. The binding is green cloth hardcover. Please note the significant wear and tear on the spine, including a large tear exposing the binding structure. The covers show general age-related discoloration and marks. The interior pages are generally clean with some age toning, and the binding remains intact for reading. A valuable historical reference for collectors of Maineiana and American history.
