Original 1918 WWI U.S. postal card featuring a purple patriotic handstamp reading “BACK THE BOYS IN THE TRENCHES – BUY A LIBERTY LOAN BOND – INQUIRE AT ANY BANK OR POST OFFICE.” Dated April 22, 1918 and used for commercial correspondence concerning a railroad shipment of rough spruce pulpwood to International Paper Co. in Rumford, Maine. 1¢ Martha Washington postal stationery with additional 1¢ Washington adhesive stamp. An interesting piece combining WWI Liberty Loan, Maine lumber/paper, railroad and postal history. Vintage condition as shown.
