Maker: John Maddock & Sons, Burslem, c.1870-1891. | History: The Aesthetic Movement of the 1870s and 1880s brought Japanese asymmetry, fans, and geometric panels onto English tables, and brown was the colour of the moment. Maddock's Gem Ironstone line carried these designs to the American export market. | Condition: All-over crazing with warm toning to the ground, light utensil wear in the well.
