Now it was here, vibrating and clucking slightly every time I hit a pothole, judging me like a silent co-pilot.
The radio crackled between stations before landing on some late-night talk show about a rise in bacteria in supermarket freezers. Fitting.
I glanced at the chicken. “Don’t look at me like that,” I muttered.
