A rare mark from a short lived Burslem pottery. The Marine pattern gives you a romantic harbour scene at the well: a domed church and towers across the water, a great urn in the foreground, and a rococo cartouche of flowers below, framed by a wide mottled seaweed border in soft blue. Octagonal form with cut corners, the classic 1840s shape. SPECS: Approx 12.5 in by 9 in octagonal platter, white ironstone with pale blue underglaze transfer. Backstamp: IRONSTONE / MARINE / T.
