As is no returns no refunds no cancellations In this powerful portrait of one family, tragic undoing, Barbara Kingsolver guide us into unexplored territory and gives us a satisfying look at the world entirely unlike our own in the way that’s “ compelling, lyrical, and utterly believable”. The year is 1959. Nathan Price, a Zilis Baptist preacher fiercely, determined to spread the word, takes his wife and daughters from a peach blossom Georgia summer to a remote, mudhouse village and the Belgian Congo. Bearing supplies ranging from hammers to hymnals to Betty Crocker cake mixes, they are unprepared for what awaits them-malaria, poisonous vipers, political, upheaval, and worse. When minor inconveniences turn to life-threatening dangers, and Nathan won’t acknowledge defeat, his wife must take matters into her own hands to find salvation for herself and her daughters.
