Product Details

This handsome two-volume fairy-tale set brings together two of the foundational collections of European children’s literature. Andersen’s Fairy Tales includes classics such as “The Snow Queen,” “The Ugly Duckling,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” “The Princess and the Pea,” and “The Steadfast Tin Soldier,” while Grimms’ Fairy Tales gathers dozens of traditional stories including “Rapunzel,” “Cinderella,” “Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “The Frog Prince,” and “Rumpelstiltskin.” Published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1945 as part of the Illustrated Junior Library, these editions are especially appealing for their period artwork. The Andersen volume is illustrated by Arthur Szyk, one of the most distinctive illustrators of the 20th century, while the Grimm volume features illustrations by Fritz Kredel.
