Product Details

John C. Miller’s Triumph of Freedom is a sweeping single-volume history of the American Revolution, following the conflict from its opening in 1775 through the peace of 1783. At more than 700 pages, it covers the military campaigns, political struggles, social changes, and ideological debates that shaped the new nation, with maps by Van H. English throughout. Contemporary scholarly reviews treated it as a substantial contribution to Revolutionary-era history. This copy is the 1948 first edition, published by Little, Brown as an Atlantic Monthly Press book. It is an especially attractive period presentation with a patriotic gilt-decorated spine and front emblem, and it represents one of Miller’s major works on early American history. For a collector of the Revolution, Washington-era history, or mid-century American historical writing, this has considerably more presence than the later paperback reprints.
