Product Details

The Superman: From Nietzsche to Teilhard de Chardin by Jules Chaix-Ruy, translated by Marina Smyth-Kok, is a philosophical study tracing the idea of the “Superman” through modern European thought, including Nietzsche, Dostoevsky, Pasternak, nihilism, and ultimately Teilhard de Chardin. This copy has particularly interesting Saint Louis University provenance. It was part of the Pius XII Library and contains a memorial bookplate designated by Saint Louis University in memory of Mr. Carlos M. Sandoval and Rev. Emmanuel Sandoval, S.J. The bookplate notes the memorial was established in 1960. It also bears a “Withdrawn from St. Louis University Libraries” stamp, along with the original library call number, circulation card, pocket, accession markings, and other institutional stamps. Bound in light-colored cloth with red spine lettering. This is a former library copy and shows expected institutional markings and general age/use wear, including a call-number label on the spine and library materials inside the rear cover. Please examine all photographs closely for the exact condition and library markings.
