The police called them outlaws. The farmers called them heroes. Richard Gere and Kevin Anderson star as Frank and Terry Roberts, two brothers struggling to keep their once-prosperous farm and their dreams alive. But times are hard, and when the bank moves in and threatens to repossess their home, they lash out, torching their home in protest and hitting the road. At first the two fugitives get a kick out of their new found notoriety, cashing in with a big time reporter (John Malkovich) and romancing two local girls. But as their spree turns ugly and the law closes in, the Roberts brothers must make a final bid for freedom and a future.
