This is the highly collectible, unauthorized (pirated) edition of Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer, dated 1940 (MCMXXXX) from the Medusa/New York imprint. These copies were secretly printed and distributed in the U.S. decades before the book's legal American publication in 1961, sparking the famous obscenity trials. ​Condition: Hardcover in EXCELLENT condition, especially considering the scarcity and nature of these unauthorized printings. The binding is clean, pages are bright, and it shows very little handling wear. It is believed this specific binding did not come with an external dust jacket/wrapper.
