Each Garcia bear is unique due to its random tie-dye fabric pattern. It was introduced in 1995 and retired in 1997. The bear is widely speculated to be named after Jerry Garcia, the guitarist for the Grateful Dead. It was quickly retired and replaced by the "Peace" bear after an alleged lawsuit from the Garcia family, making fewer of them available.
