The Bio Dude Terra Isopoda is a handcrafted, nutrient-rich bioactive substrate specifically formulated and extensively tested for isopods, springtails, millipedes, and other terrestrial arthropods. This substrate is designed for culturing, breeding, and long-term care, providing a stable and biologically active environment that supports healthy microfauna populations. Terra Isopoda features a carefully balanced blend with extensive hardwood content and added calcium to meet the nutritional needs of clean-up crews. Its breathable structure allows airflow from the top layer to the bottom, helping prevent harmful bacterial and fungal buildup while supporting the natural tunnels and burrows these species rely on to thrive. This substrate performs well across all humidity ranges. For extremely high-humidity species, the use of a drainage layer is recommended. To further enhance the habitat, it is advised to include additional biodegradables such as leaf litter, hardwoods, cork bark, and a supplemental calcium source like a calcium bone or Soil Cal Plus. Terra Isopoda can be used in terrariums, tubs, or other enclosure types. While it can function in bioactive reptile, amphibian, or arachnid enclosures, it is best utilized specifically for culturing and maintaining clean-up crews, as its behavior may differ in large mixed-species vivariums. Each 6-quart bag weighs approximately 4 lbs. Isopods are not included.
