Détails du produit

Flow blue pottery is a type of blue and white transferware that originated in England in the early 19th century. It is characterized by a distinctive "bleeding" or "flowing" of the cobalt blue underglaze, which gives it a soft, hazy appearance. This effect was achieved through a specific firing process where the pottery was placed in a lead-heavy kiln, causing the glaze to melt and the blue pigment to diffuse. William Till & Sons was a pottery manufacturer based in Stoke-on-Trent, England, operating from the mid-19th century into the early 20th century. They produced a variety of earthenware, including transferware patterns. The "Venus" pattern, as indicated by the mark, is one of their known designs, often found on plates and other tableware. The crazing visible on the plate is a common characteristic of older ceramic items due to the natural aging of the glaze.
