This issue is a classic Bronze Age clash written by Denny O'Neil with a legendary cover by Neal Adams. After a botched meteor-deflection mission, Superman and Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) find themselves at odds over who should be Earth's primary celestial guardian. The Guardians of the Universe and Doctor Fate set up a series of contests to determine the winner. However, it’s soon revealed that they are being manipulated by the villainous Felix Faust. The heroes must eventually set aside their rivalry to defeat the sorcerer. This issue is often collected alongside the famous Green Lantern/Green Arrow "Hard-Traveling Heroes" run due to the shared creative team and era.
