This coin is a 1998-W $50 American Platinum Eagle Proof, certified by NGC as a perfect PF 70 Ultra Cameo. This very rare and unique example features a specialized label with the authentic hand-signed signature of Rhett Jeppson, the 1st Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Mint. A PF 70 grade indicates a "perfect" proof coin with no visible flaws under 5x magnification. Hand-signed labels by former U.S. Mint officials like Rhett Jeppson often command a premium over standard NGC labels. The coin contains 1/2 oz of .9995 fine platinum and was struck at the West Point Mint ("W”)
