Taro Patch Dolls were a highly sought-after, Hawaiian-made variant of the 1980s Cabbage Patch Kids craze. Created in 1984 by inventor and designer Brock L. "Doc" Smith, they were crafted entirely in Hawaii and featured authentic, culturally inspired details, including island-themed clothing and hand-painted faces. Rather than mass-producing, Smith and his team handcrafted the toys locally in Hawaii.
