This is an authentic antique fraternal organization ribbon badge from the Junior Order of United American Mechanics (Jr. O.U.A.M.). The badge features a three-piece gold-tone brass construction suspended from a vibrant red, white, and blue American flag silk ribbon. The top ornate header bar is embossed with the organization's initials, "JR. O.U.A.M." The middle hanging pendant identifies the specific local chapter, reading "KNOX 482 COUNCIL" from Knox, Pennsylvania. The main lower shield-shaped pendant features the iconic symbol of the order: a square and compass surrounding an arm and hammer, representing the association's connection to American labor and patriotism. The reverse side features the original pin-back mechanism and a small maker's mark stamped on the lower right of the brass shield. The metal elements show a beautiful aged patina, and the silk ribbon remains structurally intact with only light, natural age wear. Measures just over 3 1/2 inches tall.
