You are purchasing this antique Victorian porcelain mustache mug, measuring 3.5" tall x 5" wide. Stamped "Brandenburg" with the blue anchor logo on the bottom. Roughly between 1860 -1900's. Includes a shaving brush. This gorgeous mustache mug features a handpainted purple and violet flowers, green leaves with gold-gilt accent around the rim and handle on a pale creamy yellow background and an ornate handle. Beautiful condition. No chips or cracks. *Side note: Back in the Victorian era, men wore large elaborate handlebar mustaches. As a fashion statement, men use stiffen wax (paraphane or beeswax) to style and sculpt their facial hair. When they tried to drink hot beverages, the rising steam and warm liquid would melt the wax into the cup, leaving their mustache droopy.
