Beautiful antique/vintage petit point evening purse featuring intricate multicolor floral needlework on a cream ground. The dimensional gathered/scalloped body gives this piece an especially unusual silhouette. Features an ornate metal frame with raised bead-style detailing, decorative drop clasp, and original chain handle. Interior is lined in pale satin with an interior gathered pocket. Frame bears a worn impressed origin mark that appears to read “Made in Austria.” Based on the style and construction, this piece is believed to date to approximately the 1920s–1930s/early 20th century. Wonderful collector piece for lovers of antique handbags, Austrian petit point, needlepoint, Art Deco-era accessories, and vintage textiles.
