The 'Liberty Blue' dinnerware pattern was produced by Staffordshire potteries in England specifically to commemorate the United States Bicentennial during the 1970s. Each piece in the series features a different historic colonial American scene transfer-printed in a rich cobalt blue on white ironstone body. Popularized as a promotional giveaway by various businesses and through direct-to-consumer catalog sales, the set became a staple in many American households during the patriotic fervor of the era. While millions of these pieces were manufactured and sold, they remain popular today among collectors of vintage commemorative tableware and casual everyday users alike.
