Printed and sold by Benjamin Bragg at the Blue Ball in Ave-Mary-Lane. A fascinating early-18th-century volume by one of the foundational theologians of the Church of England. Features a striking red-and-black title page, early full-calf binding with raised spine bands and blind-tooled boards, Hooker’s Ecclesiastical Polity, biography, sermons and additional writings. Antiquarian condition with considerable rubbing and wear to the leather, loss at head of spine, staining/toning and period manuscript notation.
