Wonderful old figural stick pin featuring a tiny dimensional sailor boy in cap, sailor-style collar, trousers and boots. The miniature figure sits atop an exceptionally long slender metal pin with a brown/gold-tone cylindrical end cap, creating a wonderfully strange nautical silhouette. A charming antique curiosity with loads of character—perfect for a collection of figural jewelry, sailor memorabilia, maritime pieces or unusual Victorian accessories. Exact age, metal content, maker and original intended use are unknown. Unmarked from what I can see. Shows age-related patina, darkening, surface wear and oxidation consistent with an old piece.
