used classic Mill heiress Deborah Chandler (Ida Lupino) marries Selden Clark (Stephen McNally), the ambitious manager of her father's mill, after her father dies in a suspicious accident. Deborah soon realizes Selden murdered her father for control of the mill and is now plotting to kill her as well. After surviving an attempt on her life, she goes on the run and changes her identity, eventually meeting an ex-GI named Keith Ramsey (Howard Duff).
