Early Tudor hammered silver groat from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The reverse retains a clear quartered royal shield over a long cross, while the obverse portrait is heavily worn but still shows traces of the crowned bust and surrounding legend. This example weighs 1.14g, considerably below the normal weight for a full groat, indicating substantial historic clipping and metal loss through circulation. Ruler: Elizabeth I Denomination: Groat (4d) Date: c.1559–1561 Period: Tudor Metal: Silver Weight: 1.14g Manufacture: Hammered Condition: Heavily worn / clipped / scratched / circulated A genuine historic Tudor silver coin with strong collector appeal despite the condition.
