Rare medieval English hammered silver penny from the reign of Edward IV, dating to around 1461–1483 AD. This example is attributed to the Durham Mint, making it more collectible than a standard London issue. Durham pennies are sought after because they were struck under ecclesiastical authority and are connected with the powerful Bishops of Durham. Weight: 0.69g The coin is worn and weakly struck in places, but still has visible hammered medieval detail, including pellets, cross detail and parts of the original design.
