Détails du produit

Dacia, Burebista. Koson-type Gold Stater 82-42 BC. (8.54gm) ND monogram. Obv: Eagle with outstretched wings left, crown in right claw, scepter in left. Rev: KOZON, three figures (two lictors and a consul) passing left; monogram in front. RPC 1701A; Vilcu, Transylvanian Review XIX, 2010 (A1/R1). A mystery king who turned out not to exist These "Koson" staters copy two different Roman Republican denaril wholesale -- the eagle from one moneyer's coin, the lictor procession straight off a Brutus denarius -- and collectors long assumed they belonged to an otherwise unknown Thracian king named Koson. Scholars now connect them instead to the Dacian king Burebista.
