1862 First American Edition of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. This lot is for 2 volumes - Marius and St. Denis - 2 of the 5 volume complete set. In Original publishers cloth binding and published by Carleton Publishing in New York, translated by Charles E. Wilbour. Very rare and complete sets can go for $7,500 depending on condition. The “Marius” volume is in good condition with a tight binding, some shelf wear and slight foxing. The “St. Denis” volume is in good minus condition with some shelf wear and slight foxing and hinge partially loose at front board. Both volumes missing front free end paper which is not a big loss as there was no text or illustration on it. A very nice lot for the winner of this auction!
