A plump cobalt bluebird perches on a sprig of peach and yellow blossoms in the well, framed by a hand-brushed blue band at the rim. Unmarked on the reverse, so no maker or origin claimed; the decal style and body read as 1920s to 1930s American bluebird china. | SPECS: Approx. 3 1/4 in. diameter *(confirm)*; glazed white earthenware body; polychrome bluebird and floral decal; hand-applied blue rim band; unmarked reverse with a small molded dot only. | HISTORY: Bluebird china was the sweetheart of the American table in the years around the First World War, sold by Ohio and New York potteries and given away as Larkin Soap premiums. Butter pats were the smallest piece in the set and are now among the scarcest. | CONDITION: Allover crazing to front and reverse. Wear, flaking and small losses to the blue rim band at several points, most noticeably at one edge.
