My son has Short Bowel Syndrome and spent the majority of his life hospitalized. Thankfully, he is home now. Gabe has a broviac, a central line that runs “food” directly to his blood via two IV’s and a Gtube. On a daily average, Gabe goes through 18-24 diapers, per day. He also has private duty nursing care and therapy in-home. We travel 4 hours each way, for his very frequent medical visits. Living in a rural area is good, but not when you have extremely limited medical care. I write this to say there’s so much that insurance doesn’t cover, that my son needs.
