This auction is for one sappharine approx 6+ mm sappharine. Sappharines are mid-century copies of the original saphirets, which declined in production when the price of gold rose. To make the stones, manufacturers added a small amount of gold to blue glass. Since the amount of gold used varied, so did the color of the resulting stones.
