My dad is an amazing man who fought in the Vietnam War for his country! While serving he received many honors including The Purple Heart. This is a U.S. military medal awarded to service members who have been wounded or killed in action by enemy forces. It is the oldest military decoration still in use, originally created by George Washington in 1782 as the "Badge of Military Merit" and reinstated in 1932.
