This is a vintage Japanese Ainu wood bear carving figurine, also known as a Kibori Kuma. Material: It is hand-carved from wood, possibly Katsura or Keyaki, common in Hokkaido, Japan. Design: The figurine has a distinct layered or stacked design. Origin: This style of bear carving is a traditional craft of the Ainu people in Hokkaido.
