A graceful Japanese baluster vase -- a long-tailed bird on a blossoming prunus branch with full pink peonies, framed by deep-blue diaper borders and gold lattice and trim. A classic bird-and-flower (kacho) decoration that reads beautifully on a shelf. SPECS: Approx 8 in tall; white porcelain with polychrome bird-and-peony decoration, cobalt-blue diaper borders, and gold accents. Marked with a square seal and JAPAN on the base. HISTORY: The bird-and-flower motif is a centuries-old East Asian theme; the roman-letter JAPAN mark places this in the mid-20th-century (Showa) export period.
