This is a vintage Japanese 10-yen banknote issued by the Bank of Japan, featuring Wake no Kiyomaro and the Goō Shrine. Issuer: Bank of Japan (日本銀行) Denomination: 10 Yen (拾圓) Design Features: Depicts the historical figure Wake no Kiyomaro in the center and the Goō Shrine (Goou Jinja). The Print Run: As part of the 4th Issue 10-Yen Note series (historically referred to as the Ro-Go / ろ号 note or Pick #77a), the Bank of Japan utilized numerous contract printing offices across the country to keep up with inflation during the war. The Manufacturer: Block numbers around 53 were heavily handled by the primary Finance Ministry Printing Bureau facilities. Because the war was putting immense pressure on supply lines, this block features the simplified, raw color palettes and lack of individualized serial numbers typical of mid-1944 press output.
