Gorgeous antique Victorian-era sewing and vanity piece by Meriden B. Company, featuring a domed mustard-gold velvet pin cushion above an ornate pierced silver-plated base. The sides are beautifully detailed with repeating floral and scrollwork decoration, with warm gold-toned fabric visible beneath the openwork. The removable pincushion top lifts to reveal a rust/copper-colored fabric-lined interior, allowing the piece to double as a small sewing notions, jewelry, or trinket box. The underside is stamped Meriden B Company / Quadruple Plate and 0110. “Quadruple plate” refers to the silver-plating process and should not be confused with sterling silver.
