You are purchasing this vinatage cranberry red spongeware Marshall Pottery "spirit" jug measuring 6.5" tall. Produced in Marshall, Texas / USA by Marshall Pottery which was established in 1895 until the business closed in November 2015. Stamped on the bottom. Marshall Pottery was a famous historical Texas company operating for over a century. This beautiful jug features a cranberry red spongware design, hand-turned by master potters, heavy body with a finger loop. Ironically it has a wax / cork stopper. Unsure if it's an original, but nevertheless it is attractive and would have come with the original jug. These jugs were referred to as "spirit" jugs because they were designed specifically to store and transport high proof distilled alcohol.
