Beautiful vintage hand-carved and hand-painted/stained solid wood folk art serving tray measuring approximately 24" wide x 14" tall x 2" deep. Features detailed Caribbean folk-art scenes carved on BOTH sides, including a woman with a donkey carrying baskets, palm tree, flowers, moon/stars and bold dark contrasting carved details. Integrated side handles and substantial solid-wood construction make this an impressive decorative or functional piece. No maker or country-of-origin markings found. Previous provenance identified it as coming from Jamaica; however, this cannot be verified. The carving style and imagery closely resemble documented vintage Haitian/Caribbean folk-art trays, so it is being described as Caribbean / Haitian-style rather than attributing a definite origin. Very good vintage condition with age-related surface wear, scratches, marks and finish variation. Displays beautifully. Please review all photos for exact condition and craftsmanship.
