Backstamp: MADE IN CHINA in red seal form. HISTORY: Rose Medallion, the Canton export pattern of figures and birds in alternating cartouches, was made from the mid-nineteenth century onward. The English-language Made in China stamp places this piece in the twentieth-century export runs, before or after the mid-century gap in trade; the exact decade is left open.
