Beautiful vintage Japanese Satsuma-style vase, dating to approximately the early Showa period, c. 1925–1940. The underside is hand-marked in iron red: MADE IN JAPAN This country-of-origin mark, together with the form and decorative style, is consistent with Japanese export pottery of the pre-WWII Showa era. It is not marked Occupied Japan. Condition: Displays beautifully with age-related wear consistent with a vintage piece, including areas of gilt loss/rubbing, minor surface wear and discoloration/staining to the interior. A wonderfully decorative example of early 20th-century Japanese Satsuma-style export ware with strong color and plenty of old-world character. Excellent for a Japanese ceramics collection, Asian-inspired interior, or standalone display piece.
