Exceptional antique 15-inch transitional hand plane combining a substantial hardwood body with cast-iron plane hardware, original shaped wooden tote and front knob. This hybrid construction represents the important transition between traditional all-wood planes and fully metallic bench planes. Estimated era: Late 19th to early 20th century, approximately 1890–1920. Exact manufacture date and maker are unconfirmed due to the absence of a clearly visible manufacturer mark. The plane displays outstanding natural age, darkened wood patina, worn surfaces and aged cast-iron components that provide strong visual character. Original components remain present, including the cutter, frog, lever cap, adjustment hardware, tote and knob.
