This substantial anthology gathers 69 fairy tales from around the world, drawing from traditions associated with the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, Andrew Lang, and many others. The collection ranges well beyond the most familiar European stories, bringing together myths, folktales, legends, and classic fairy stories in one large volume. Published by Reader’s Digest in 1967 and edited by Belle Becker Sideman, this edition is especially appealing for its color illustrations by Fritz Kredel and its decorative red cloth-and-patterned binding. At more than 800 pages, it’s a genuinely substantial vintage fairy-tale collection rather than a slim children’s selection, with a presentation that works well for both reading and display.
