Nicholas Meyer returns to the world of Sherlock Holmes with The West End Horror, presented as another “posthumous memoir” of Dr. John H. Watson. Holmes and Watson are drawn into a series of murders surrounding London’s West End theater district, mixing classic Holmes-style detection with real historical and literary figures from late-Victorian London. Published by E. P. Dutton in 1976, this is the first edition of Meyer’s second Sherlock Holmes pastiche, following the enormously successful The Seven-Per-Cent Solution. The original illustrated dust jacket is a major part of the appeal, making this a particularly fun collectible for Holmes readers, mystery fans, and collectors of modern Sherlockiana.
