Jonathan Swift sends Lemuel Gulliver through a succession of astonishing worlds: tiny Lilliputians, towering giants, strange philosophers, and finally the intelligent Houyhnhnms, using each voyage to satirize politics, pride, war, and human behavior. This 1947 Grosset & Dunlap Illustrated Junior Library edition was revised and slightly abridged for contemporary young readers and is illustrated by Aldren Watson. Beneath the pictorial dust jacket is an especially attractive decorative binding with repeating red sailing ships and an illustrated blue spine—a wonderful mid-century presentation of Swift’s famous adventure.
